  • 1:00

A memorial of the Republic of Croatia, which was recently officially proclaimed by the Croatian Parliament at the initiative of the Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics. The Croatian Glagolitic alphabet is a historical Croatian alphabet, one of the unavoidable symbols of national identity and centuries-old civilization, on the basis of which Croatia is still recognizable and unique in Europe and the world. The proclamation of that day was initiated by the Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics, which chose February 22 as a memorial to the day when the first Croatian book was published in 1483 - the Missal according to the law of the Roman court. With its initiative, the Institute wanted to draw the attention of the public and all speakers of the Croatian language to the importance of promoting the values and beauties of the Croatian Glagolitic alphabet and enable the Glagolitic alphabet to be a memorial one day a year. On the occasion of marking the first Day of Croatian Glagolitic and Glagolitic, the Institute has prepared a small school of Glagolitic, a test of Glagolitic knowledge and a memory game "Glagolitic memory" on its Croatian pages at school.

GLAGOLITIC IN DRAGANIĆ

  • 18:00
  • Matica hrvatska,, Zagreb, Croatia

Draganić is a place that throughout its history has been located on important traffic routes that connect the north and south of Croatia, once by caravan route, and today by a modern highway and railway. The first mention of Draganić in written documents is recorded in 1249. At that time, Draganić was organized as a "noble Draganić municipality" which freely chose its prefect in the pews of the Church of St. George, where Glagolitic priests taught students until 1560, and property and legal documents were written in Glagolitic. Today, preserved documents from the 15th and 16th centuries testify to this. Since 2008, the Zraka Association has been presenting its rich cultural and historical heritage to the local community through exhibitions, professional gatherings and lectures, thus promoting the Glagolitic alphabet in cooperation with associations and societies that inherit and nurture this special Croatian alphabet. From 2013 until today, several lectures and workshops have been held on Glagolitic.
