Permanent exhibition The Story of Constantine and Methodius

The multimedia permanent exhibition "The Story of Constantine and Methodius" develops the fate of the Byzantine heroes in the form of virtual projections. It takes us into the environment of the Byzantine Empire of the mid-9th century, introduces us to the situation and the distribution of power in Europe at that time. Its story traces the birth, rise and fall of Great Moravia, as well as the cultural and literary repercussions associated with the Great Moravian Empire. The texts in the exhibition and in the virtual guide are in Czech, English, German and Russian. The exhibition is also adapted for the blind and partially sighted. The exposition is accessible within the framework of a regular ticket throughout the year. The Great Moravia and Prehistory of Uherské Hradiště exposition can also be visited within the ticket.

The multimedia permanent exhibition on the history of the Great Moravian Empire is based on the story of one particular man, named by archaeologists Mojslav, buried in the 9th century at the burial site in the Staré Město "Na Valách". The story is presented in the form of historical dioramas. These are made up of life-size figures and depict the basic historical moments of Great Moravia, but also present all the life activities of the inhabitants of the 9th century. Thanks to Mojslav, visitors will learn everything about Great Moravia, from his childhood, his reception among the warriors to his death - by the way, it is at the grave of the warrior, which was discovered in the past near the foundations of the Great Moravian church, that the whole exhibition will end, visitors will descend to the grave and thus say goodbye to the whole exhibition circuit.

The cognitive haptic (tactile) trail guides the visitor against the flow of time. It begins in the time of Great Moravia, but goes all the way back to the very dawn of human civilisation. The outlines of ancient objects emerge from the twilight of antiquity and the characteristic sounds of the time are heard. By means of replicas and enlarged reconstructions of authentic archaeological finds, mostly from the territory of the Uherské Hradiště region, visitors can discover ancient cultures by touch and by ear, get acquainted with the vessels they used, the weapons they fought with, the jewellery they adorned themselves with, as well as the stone tools and engravings or statues of the earliest hunters and gatherers who inhabited the region. The texts in the exhibition and in the virtual guide are in Czech, English, German and Russian. The exhibition is also adapted for the blind and partially sighted. The Story of Constantine and Methodius and Great Moravia exhibition is also included in the ticket.

Opening of the philatelic exhibition LIVING CYRILO-METHODIAN HERITAGE

The Kindergarten, General School, Gymnasium and College with Slovak as the language of instruction in Budapest, CYRILOMETODIADA, o. z., PRO PATRIA Foundation and the Philatelic Club 52-46 Močenok cordially invite you to the opening of the Philatelic Exhibition Living Cyril and Methodius Heritage, which will take place on 12 February 2024 at 4 p.m. in the above mentioned institution at 1-7 Lomb Street in Budapest. The author of the exhibition is the philatelist Jozef Kútny from Mocenok, who is a member of the Philatelic Club 52-46 Mocenok. The twenty panels tell the story from the arrival of the Holy Brothers of Thessaloniki to our ancestors to the establishment of the Slovak Republic in 1993.

The Iron Pilgrim

The Iron Pilgrim is a Lenten night pilgrimage from Trstín - Hájička to Šaštín, about 40 km long. All those who want to experience a more intensive Lenten preparation for the celebration of Easter are welcome. The pilgrimage will begin with Holy Mass in the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul in Trstin. After the Mass, the pilgrims will march through the Small Carpathians to Šaštín. The pilgrimage will be concluded with a Holy Mass in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows in Šaštín.
With the bear for garlic

This year's first event is dedicated to a local medicinal plant - bear garlic. It is abundant in the floodplain forests and we are glad that we have it also in the vicinity of the Slavic Hillfort in the forests of the Mikulčický Luh Nature Park. There will be tasting and discussion as well as sale of finished products containing bear garlic. The event is organized with the support of the Gourmet Association of Mikulčice and the Senior Citizens Club.

Welcome spring with the Burning of Morana, including the afternoon children's zone. The traditional ancient ritual of Burning Morana, directed by the scouts of Modřany, is enriched by a performance by the local children's ensemble Stodolánek. Part of the diverse band of costumed boys and girls is, for example, the traditional bringing of Morana - a disguised straw mannequin in a woman's dress mounted on a pole, lit over a fire and thrown into the Baboňák pond in front of the fort. You can look forward to interesting facts about water, water tasting from spring of Chřiby hills and much more in Living water.
Olympiad of Great Moravia

Historical olympiad on the topic of Great Moravia and the Thessalonian brothers of Saints Cyril and Methodius. The aim of the competition is to encourage children of both levels of primary school to spread knowledge about the establishment of the first state unit in our territory. It helps students to realize the cultural and religious values, which were built here by a strong ruling family and left behind especially St. Cyril and St. Methodius.

Road running Great Moravia

Already the 47th year of the 10 km road run in cooperation with the Mikulčice athletic club. It takes place from the village to the area of the national cultural monument and back. On the road in Mikulčice, the traditional route of Great Moravia is already 10 km marked in blue, so you can run it individually, with family, friends or opponents at any time - from start to finish and as many times as you want.
Tourist march for families with children FOFR

The march leads through the village of Tepličky with a subsequent connection to the Poniklec nature trail. The length of the route of 5.5 km suits even the smallest participants and therefore this event is regularly attended by whole families with children. Through the Obecný háj and Soroš, participants will reach the former vineyards on Stara Hora, from where there is a nice view of Hlohovec and the adjacent surroundings.

The largest church with patronage of two brothers in Slovakia, was promoted to Diocesan Shrine in 2019. Since 2005, when St. John Paul II died, the concert "Thank you for love" is held regularly on the Sunday of God's Mercy.

EXHIBITION GREETINGS FROM VOJVODINA

The artworks of students Nikola Mitić, Teodora Petković, Miroslav Janin, Marko Piroška and master's student Filip Dzolić from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad were created in the regular art workshop "From Goddess to Godmother". The artistic workshop "From Goddess to Goddess" was born at the archaeological site of Donja Branjevina in the village of Odžaci in Serbia. The idea of the organizer Nenad Zivanov, the chairman of the cultural association "Atanasije Nikolić", is that artists at the newly discovered archaeological site should search for answers to the deepest questions through artistic language: who we are, where we come from and where we are going. The exhibition will be open to the public until 2 May 2024.
Hiking the Cyril and Methodius Route from Kopčany to Mikulčice

On Sunday 28 April 2024 at 10 a.m., the spring pilgrimage along the Cyril and Methodius Route from Kopčany (Slovakia) to Mikulčice (Czech Republic) will take place for the general public. We invite all those who are interested to take a guided walk along the flat, 7 km long hiking trail in the footsteps of the legacy of Great Moravia. The tour will have a total of five stops, including important Great Moravian monuments, such as the oldest preserved Great Moravian church of St. Margaret of Antioch in Kopčany or the Slavic hillfort in Mikulčice.
Saint George pilgrimage to the Church of Saint George

The Foundation Mass will be held on Sunday 30.04.2023 at 10.00 a.m. at the Rotunda of St. George and will be celebrated by Bishop of Nitra Mons. Viliam Judák. The celebration will be broadcast live on RTVS on STV 2. In the cultural program after the Holy Mass, local and regional interest folklore groups and individuals, as well as professional cultural ensembles. The Desert Meadow under the Rotunda will be the venue of the the traditional pilgrimage fair with accompanying events.

Cycle Pilgrimage Trnava - Močenok - Nitra

The cycling pilgrimage follows the annual walking pilgrimages and cyclo pilgrimages of the faithful from the parish of Močenok to Nitra and also the cyclo pilgrimage to Trnava. It leads from Nitra Castle, the seat of the Bishop of the Diocese of Nitra, to the seat of the Archdiocese of Trnava. Cyclotourists will make short stops at several monuments along the route and will have the opportunity to learn a lot of interesting information about the churches and parishes. The pilgrimage is divided into two parts; more experienced cyclists can do the entire route, while recreational cyclists can only do some of the route.

Pilgrimage to the Chapel of St. Urban

The pilgrimage to St. Urban is registered in the list of intangible monuments of the town of Hlohovec. The cultivation of grapes and the production of wine have been carried out by generations of our ancestors on the territory of the town. It was the source, sometimes the only source, of their livelihood. For this reason, St Urban, the patron saint of vine-growers, gardeners and coopers, was held in high esteem. The pilgrimage to this saint was a manifestation of this respect. The gazebo above the statue of St Urban, popularly known as 'Urbánok', was built in 1924 and this year marks the 100th anniversary of its construction.

Kunovice Summer Folklore Festival

In June, children from different parts of the world traditionally come to Kunovice and other Moravian towns for the popular Kunovice Summer folklore festival. A rich three-day program is prepared for all visitors - the 31st show of traditional regional or national dances of individual countries, concerts, competitions. The host cities of the festival are mainly Kunovice, but also Uherské Hradiště and Staré Město.
A GUIDED TOUR AT THE HILLFORT IN BOJNÁ

Come and experience a unique guided tour approaching the life on the Old Slavic Hillfort in the period of Great Moravia. In the summer season (June-August), every Saturday in the village of Bojná will be held a guided tour at the hillfort Valy. The guided tour at the hillfort will take place every Saturday from 12.00 to 18.00 hours. The guide will greet visitors at the historical reconstruction of the entrance gate of the Valy Hillfort. At the entrance to the hillfort you can learn from the guide interesting information about the origin and significance of the hillfort. This will be followed by a transfer together with the guide to the centre of the former place of the life of the Slavs, where visitors will learn about their life and what preceded the disappearance and rediscovery of the treasures of the Hillfort, in addition to interesting facts about their life. In addition, throughout the summer the Archaeological Museum of Great Moravia will be open for visitors in Bojna daily from 10.00 to 16.00 hours. The Valy hillfort is a reconstruction of a Slavic settlement directly in nature and one of the most important archaeological sites in Central Europe. In the 9th century it was an important fortified power centre, situated on the trade route between the Ponitra and the Považí region, where the inhabitants embraced Christianity even before the arrival of Sts Cyril and Methodius. The tours are free of charge and there is no need to register in advance!
Cyril and Methodius pilgrimage in Zalavár

The Slovak self-government in Budapest cordially invites everyone to the traditional pilgrimage to Blatnohrad (Zalavár), which will take place on Thursday, 15 June 2023. At 11 a.m., the opening of the commemorative festivities in front of the 20-year-old sculpture of Saints Cyril and Methodius will take place with the Hungarian and Slovak anthems. Afterwards, a short speech will be given by the chairwoman Edita Hortiová. Her speech will be followed by other speeches and the laying of wreaths. During the festivities, the Budapest-Slovak choir Ozvěna will perform a cultural programme. At noon, a Holy Mass will be celebrated at the local Church of the Queen of the Sacred Rosary, officiated by Vdp. Stanislav Brtoš. At 1 pm there will be a lecture by archaeologist PhD. Agnese Ritoó on the research being carried out behind the historical park. There will be a common lunch for the pilgrimage participants at a local restaurant from 13.30.

In the footsteps of Saints Cyril and Methodius to Blatnohrad - Zalavar

The Military Ordinariate of Slovakia in conjunction with the Military Ordinariate of Hungary are inviting you to a Sts. Cyril and Methodius joint pilgrimage in Blatnohrad – Zalavar in Hungary taking place on 17th Jun 2023. The principality headquarter in Blatnohrad was at its height during the reign of Pribina’s son Kocel, to whom the holy brothers of Solun Sts. Cyril and Methodius paid a visit on their way to the Eternal City. It was in Blatohrad where an important archeological artefact – a shard with a Glagolitic sign – was found proving the use of Glagolitic in our region. Old Church Slavonic as the fourth liturgic language, God’s blessing and te genius of Sts. Cyril and Methodius (the patron sains of Europe) laid the foundation of Slovak, Slavic and Central- European eduction. Thanks to the wise decision of our monarchs Rastislav, Svatopluk and Kocel to turn to the Byzantne Emperor Michael III and ask him to send missionaries to spread God’s word in a language which was understandable for Slavic nations. In Blatnohrad one can perceive our nation’s spiritual legacy, however, this is considered to be a sacred place not only for Slovaks but to other slavic nations as well.

St. John's fires in the village of Kšinná

The distinctive Slovak village of Kšinná prepares a traditional burning of a bonfire with a folklore programme. During the event, the precious late Romanesque church of St. Kozma and Damian will be open to the public. The exhibition Mission in Contexts will be presented in its premises. The exhibition brings to the public the well-known and less known cultural and historical objects connected with the Cyril and Methodius mission and the beginnings of Christianity. There will be a workshop for children connected with a creative workshop aimed at creative learning of Glagolitic. The event will also include other activities.
Cyril and Methodius Historical Festivities in Devín

A cultural and historical event for all ages. In this way we also reveal to visitors the ancient history of the trail of the European Cultural Route of St. Cyril and Methodius. The event will offer visitors a historical camp and cuisine of the early Middle Ages, a historical performance of a historical ensemble and a Slavic fire show in the evening. The programme also includes a Roman Catholic liturgy in the spirit of the Cyril and Methodius tradition and a panel discussion on the legacy of the saints. The event will include a travelling exhibition of photographs by Pavel Demes.
EARLY MEDIEVAL FUN

The holidays are starting and it's the perfect time for a little bit of living history. The Styrke Tribal Association has prepared an extraordinary spectacle for the entire weekend. You can look forward to brave men, dashing women and a glimpse into the way of life in the 9th century. Saturday afternoon will be richer and will certainly last until 6pm. There will be medieval camp life, craft and fighting demonstrations, the opportunity to try archery and javelin throwing. In the workshops, children will be able to model clay animal figurines. All are welcome.

Cyril and Methodius Days in Terchova

35th year of Spiritual - cultural - social event in honor of the Slavic heralds of Saints Cyril and Methodius - co-patrons of Europe from 2nd to 5th July. The church in Terchová is the largest church in Slovakia, dedicated to the Thessaloniki brother. The largest international meeting of artistic blacksmiths in Europe. The meeting is traditionally held on the last weekend of August at Helfštýn Castle, which for a few days turns into a literal mecca of blacksmithing. Master blacksmiths from all over the world traditionally come to Helfštýn and visitors have a unique opportunity to admire their skill at work. The blacksmiths work in the open air at several workplaces. Many of their works will remain in the castle or decorate the town of Lipník nad Bečvou, where the castle is located. Cultural Heritage of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Skopje

The program includes a workshop on the above mentioned topic at the Institute of Macedonian Literature, visiting the campus of Sts.
