Vážení čtenáři,

Let us bring you information about the events brought about by the beginning of the year 2024 by the European Cultural Route of Sts. Cyril and Methodius (ECRSCM).

Journey to the Script at the Rožnov Grammar School

The Grammar School in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm (Czech Republic) hosted an exhibition "Journey to the Script" on the occasion of the Open Day. Pupils of some classes also worked with the material "Journey to the Script with Hlaholníček", which introduces the Glagolitic script and the Cyril and Methodius Route in a playful way.

For example, the Hlaholníček was used by pupils of 2.A8 who were discussing the Great Moravia. They also used a 3D printer to create the letter Ě. Pupil of 4.B worked on the Glagolitic alphabet in orthography. The activities at the school were coordinated by Dr. Helena Rudněvová.

Pupils of the Rožnov pod Radhoštěm Grammar School worked creatively with the Glagolitic alphabet while discussing the Great Moravia.

The Rajhrad's Museum of Literature in Moravia Presents Itself

The Benedictine Abbey in Rajhrad and the Museum of Literature in Moravia (Czech Republic), located on the grounds of the monastery, are included in the Cyril and Methodius Route project as one of the places associated with the Cyrillo-Methodian and Great Moravian traditions. The Benedictine monastery was deliberately founded on a site with a living memory of the former Great Moravian settlement (the foundation documents even mention a monk's cell). The relationship of Rajhrad to early Moravian Christianity was then maintained through the Baroque monastic historiography and later in the scientific activities of the Benedictines of Rajhrad. It was also imprinted in the monastery library, which contains volumes with ecclesiastical Slavic inscriptions. This tradition is continued today by the Památník písemnictví na Moravě, whose permanent exhibition is partly dedicated to Great Moravian literature. The exposition is also the basis for a separate educational programme for pupils and students of primary and secondary schools, called "Do Not Be Afraid of Old Slavonic", which has been very popular among school pupils. Specialised tours combining literary, historical and archaeological knowledge are possible in the museum, emphasising the theme of Great Moravia and its literature.

The monastery library in Rajhrad contains 65 thousand volumes.
