The influence of the Cyrillo-Methodian mission reached southern Poland from nearby Great Moravia as early as the 9th century. This occurred before the official adoption of Latin Christianity, as evidenced by rotunda remains in Kraków and traces of Slavic liturgy in Silesia and the Vistula region. This tradition shows that Polish territory was part of a broader Slavic cultural sphere from the very beginning. The brothers’ legacy is seen as a key chapter in the early history of the Polish state.
