The so-called “rough church” on St. Nicholas Square. The two-tower church was built in 1380 on the site of the original Romanesque church. The interior and exterior of the church enchants with the grandeur of Gothic with Baroque elements. The Baroque chapel from the 18th century includes a miraculous – tearful image of Our Lady of Trnava.  

The City Tower is one of the most popular attractions for tourists. In ideal weather you can see all the way to the foothills of the Little Carpathians. The 57 m high tower was built in the 16th century as an observation tower. Since 1729 it has housed a working clockwork. The special feature of the gilded statue of the Immaculata at the top of the tower is the face from the front and the back, which means that the Virgin Mary never turns her back on Trnava.

The first early Baroque building in Slovakia. The magnificent building was built in the 17th century by Italian architects Pietro and Antonio Spazzo. Its construction is considered to be the beginning of the “Trnava Baroque”. Inside, you will find a jewel – the all-wooden main altar from 1640. With a height of more than 20 m, it is one of the highest early Baroque altars in Europe. 

The Jewish community in Trnava first appears in written documents in the 14th century, but their presence in this commercial center was even earlier. In 1539, the Jews were expelled  and the medieval Jewish ghetto disappeared without a trace. In the years 1891-1897, the Synagogue of the Status quo ante religious community was built.  Since 1994, the synagogue has been part of the Ján Koniarek Gallery in Trnava and serves as the Center for Contemporary Art.
