the fifth stage of hiking
Pilica - Imbramowice
Basic information about the trail
The section of the trail among Pilica – Imbramowice passes through the buffer zone of the Eagles’ Nests Landscape Park, the Olkusz Plateau, the buffer zone and the Dłubnia Landscape Park. The trail crosses mainly forest areas, farmland, small villages and the town of Wolbrom.
After leaving Pilica in the direction of the border between the Śląskie and Małopolskie voivodships, the trail crosses the Eagles’ Nests landscape park, passing by the caves of Zegarowa, Psia and on Biśnik, not far from the beautiful limestone hill Grodzisko Pańskie (485 m above sea level). We continue through farmland to the town of Wolbrom, located on the Olkusz Plateau. Passing through the charming historical centre of Wolbrom, we continue through farmland, forests and small villages to the picturesque Dłubniański Landscape Park and its buffer zone, ending in Imbramowice at the Church of St Benedict Abbot.

Our tip:
This section of the trail crosses part of the Eagles’ Nests Landscape Park, established in 1981, which owes its name to the medieval castles located in the area, which were called eagles’ nests due to their inaccessibility. It is one of the most diverse areas in terms of geomorphology and habitat types. Heading towards the village of Smoleń, the ruins of a 13th century castle with a round tower can be seen on the hill. In Wolbrom, not far from the market square, it is worth visiting the historical Church of St Catherine of Alexandria dating back to the 15th or 16th century. In the village of Glanów there is a historical villa-park complex with a classical manor house, a 19th-century park and farm buildings. Between Glanów and Imbramowice lies the Ostryszni Gorge, which is the left branch of the Dłubnia River valley. The trail ends at the parish church of St Benedict the Abbot, dating back to the 18th century.

Why walk the trails of the Cyril and Methodius Route?
The long-distance trails of the Cyril and Methodius Route invite you to pilgrimage sites and archaeological sites that have contributed significantly to the development of Slavic culture. They are signposted in both directions and encourage wandering without borders, not only state borders.
- Experience: you'll be surprised what you can do
- Great signposting: tourist signposting
- Incredible landscape: we wander through the countryside off the busy stretches
What can be obtained?
Perhaps everyone likes to bring back something from hiking, be it various tourist and souvenir items. If you will be hiking the Cyril and Methodius Route, we have prepared the following printed materials to motivate you to hike the trail:
- Pilgrimage passports: collecting stamps for a special passport
- Memorial letters: a souvenir letter at the end of the journey
- Maps: printed guide
